Starting at Trinity Claims

James transitioned into the claims industry with no prior experience, taking a leap of faith to start as a Claims Handler working within the Accidental Damage team. With a strong interest in construction and a key eye for details, he quickly adapted to the role, within a year James moved into the Escape of Water team dealing with predominantly Buildings damage claims.

James’ potential was recognised by the Managing Surveyor, Ralph, who saw his natural ability to assess claims effectively. Ralph took him under his wing as his mentor, guiding him into the surveying team and helping him develop the technical skills required for the role.

To support his professional development, Trinity enrolled James in a Higher National Certificate in Surveying - making him the first person within the company to undertake this course. This opportunity allowed him to deepen his expertise while continuing to lead and expand the desktop team. His enhanced knowledge and leadership were instrumental in improving surveying functions and streamlining operations across the department.

Progressing in Surveying

James’ role evolved rapidly. He was part of growing the desktop surveying team, which at the time was a one-man operation. As Trinity Claims expanded, so did his responsibilities. He took on large loss surveying, working on complex cases, putting his experience and knowledge to use. His ability to assess damage, liaise with contractors, and provide accurate reports made him a valuable asset to the company.

Leading as Senior Managing Surveyor

Today, James is a vital part of Trinity Claims as the Senior Managing Surveyor. He has been instrumental in implementing new pricing structures, he is the Xactware (Verisk) product liaison, improving building processes, and developing an audit function to enhance efficiency. He works closely with multiple departments, ensuring seamless

collaboration between claims handling and surveying. His strategic approach has helped refine workflows and improve service delivery.

One of his most rewarding experiences is helping policyholders navigate difficult times following severe incidents ensuring fair and efficient resolutions. He also values the company’s commitment to employee development, which has provided him with opportunities to grow and succeed.
