James Kinsey

James Kinsey’s journey at Trinity is a story of passion, progression, and purpose. With over 19 years in the industry and a heart for helping others, James has gone from technician to Operations Manager of TFR Specialist Services - leading from the front with empathy, integrity, and a focus on fast, high-quality outcomes.

The Beginning:

James first heard about Trinity from friends already at the company. Their enthusiasm piqued his interest, and after a phone and face-to-face interview with Tom Hewitt, James was hooked. James joined as a technician, bringing with him years of experience and a reputation for getting the job done.

Prior to Trinity, James worked as a supervisor at Belfor, where he built a wealth of hands-on knowledge in property claims and disaster recovery. But it wasn’t until Trinity that he truly found a company that valued his voice.

A Rapid Rise Through the Ranks

James didn’t stay a technician for long. Within just two weeks, he found himself in the office, and within six months, he was promoted to team leader for fire claims. Less than a year later, he stepped into the role of Operations Manager for TFR Specialist Services.

His leadership has helped drive the team forward, especially in the handling of complex and sensitive claims, including those linked to the renowned DIY SOS projects. James oversees these urgent, high-pressure cases and trains and leads the mitigation and reinstatement teams that bring damaged homes back to life, sometimes in as little as 14–22 days.

Challenges Turned into Growth

James’s career hasn’t always been smooth sailing. At previous companies, he encountered poor management, limited career progression, and felt his input was ignored. That all changed when he came to Trinity.

“Here, they listen,” James says. “I’ve been encouraged to develop, supported with mentoring, and trusted to make decisions. That’s what’s made all the difference.”

Learning to manage different personalities, taking on new responsibilities, and continuously upskilling have all been part of the journey. And Trinity has been there every step of the way.

Heart of the Role: Supporting the Policyholder

What James enjoys most is clear: helping the policyholder. Especially vulnerable customers.

“I love making people feel better, helping them through what is often one of the worst times of their lives. That’s what drives me,” he says.

It’s this mindset that makes him such a natural fit for the DIY SOS projects, which have brought him recognition despite his dislike of being in the spotlight. James recently filmed another episode in Stoke, and the initiative has even been nominated for a British Insurance Award.

Advice to Others

James’s advice for those following a similar path is simple:

· Pick the right company – somewhere that values your contribution.

· Believe in yourself – confidence goes a long way.

· Always strive to improve – keep learning, keep growing.

He credits mentors from his early days at Belfor, many of whom he’s still close with, for setting him on the right path. And now, as a mentor himself, he’s paying it forward.

Final Word

James Kinsey is proof that great things happen when talent meets opportunity and when people are placed at the heart of the process. From accelerating DIY SOS claims to creating a workplace culture where others can thrive, James continues to be a driving force for good at Trinity.
